Singer/songwriter/actor Gary Clark Jr. brings blues, rock and soul to The Ridgefield Playhouse

"He consolidates Hendrix, Stevie Ray, '90s grunge, hip hop, soul and R&B into a cool mix that makes your jaw drop. He can out groove and out play any (one) on earth, but he's into songs, not showmanship", raves San Antonio Current about the über gifted Gary Clark Jr. who is coming to The Ridgefield Playhouse on Monday, June 25, at 8 p.m.

A singer/songwriter/instrumentalist and actor, Gary was featured on Rollingstone.com’s "Coachella 2012: 10 Can't-Miss Acts". Special guest is Justin Jones, a 4-piece classic rock band known for their great guitar work. The Little Pub, Ethan Allen Hghwy., Ridgefield, is sponsoring Gary Clark Jr’s Ridgefield event, and ticket holders may enjoy a free glass of house wine or draft beer with dinner the night of the show when tickets are shown.

Gary Clark Jr., who started playing guitar at 12 years old, is a multifaceted musician excelling on guitar, harmonica, bass and drums. He has performed with rock and roll legends Buddy Guy, Sheryl Crow, B.B. King and Eric Clapton. His style is a blend of rock, soul and other influences, infusing fluid guitar with a guttural howl and falsetto trill.

A type of Renaissance man, Gary Clark Jr. received the Austin Music Award for Best Blues and Electric Guitarist on three occasions. Rolling Stone magazine declared Clark “Best Young Gun” in last year’s “Best of Rock” issue. Clark has performed at the White House, in PBS specials and starred with Danny Glover, Stacy Keach and Charles Dutton in the 2007 John Sayles’ film Honeydripper.
