With the kind of 3-part vocal harmony that comes around once in a lifetime, Blue Sky Riders is made up of three great talents: Kenny Loggins, Gary Burr and Georgia Middleman, singing some of their best known hits plus new songs they've written together. They will be in concert at The Ridgefield Playhouse on Sunday, September 23, at 8 p.m. Special guests are Carly & Eliza, teenage songstresses whose popularity stems from their lyrical guitar and unique vocal harmonies. An AllShows.com VIP Party Pass ($25 addt'l per person or $50 with Artist Meet & Greet) is available and includes a pre-show cocktail party 6:30 – 7:15 p.m. with open bar, hors-d’oeuvre and priority parking. This event is part of the Doyle Coffin Architecture Singer/Songwriter Series.
The creative spark that turned into Blue Sky Riders was struck as Kenny Loggins and Gary Burr, two veteran singer/songwriters, collaborated on their first song. They added Georgia Middleman to create a one-of-a-kind three-part harmony, and Blue Sky Riders was born. Kenny Loggins is critically acclaimed as one of the premiere voices in modern popular music. He asked Gary Burr, one of Nashville’s most accomplished writers, to form a band. They sought out Georgia Middleman as the perfect voice to round out the trio. According to Loggins, “We wrote our first song and were singing with a three-part blend that comes once in a lifetime.” All three sing lead amid the three-part harmonies that told each of them from the beginning that they had something special.
For Kenny Loggins, Blue Sky Riders is a new creative step forward in a career filled with magic moments. His early hits as half of Loggins and Messina and later as a solo artist include "Danny's Song", "Your Mama Don't Dance", "Angry Eyes", "Whenever I Call You Friend" (with Stevie Nicks) and "This Is It" (Grammy® Award winner) plus a series of movie theme songs such as "Footloose" (Footloose) and "Danger Zone" (Top Gun), followed by smash hits including "Conviction of the Heart", "The Real Thing" and "For the First Time". Loggins’ songs have been covered by Barbra Streisand, Lynn Anderson, Anne Murray and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.
Georgia Middleman was drawn to Nashville's creative energy and quickly landed a publishing deal with Polygram and released the well-received Endless Possibilities on Giant Records. She wrote Keith Urban's 2010 chart-topper "I'm In", and singles including Tracy Lawrence's "It's All How You Look At It" and Sarah Buxton's "Innocence".
