There has been some local chatter regarding the restaurant closing and their website message stating, “Bailey’s Backyard is currently closed for renovations, keep checking back for future messages."
We put a call in to Sal Bagliavio, Bailey’s Backyard owner and chef, who confirmed that, yes it is indeed closed. “We are down, but not out,” said Bagliavio, who is revamping everything from the decor and seating, to the menu. “We are going ‘American farm to table’ with locally sourced food from Connecticut farms and the tri-state area,” explained Bagliavio. “New menu, but same name, same owner, just a little freshening up,” he added.
The doors are expected to be opened again in time for Mother’s day. Of course I had to ask about their cheesecake, my favorite dessert. According to Bagliavio, it might not be a regular menu item, but he hinted that perhaps it’ll make it’s way onto their specials.
That would make for a very special Mother’s Day treat for me.
