Voices of Poetry at The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum


The Aldrich Museum, in conjunction with the Ridgefield Library, present poetry readings by award-winning poets Alfred Corn, Leslie McGrath, Faith Vicinanza, Neil Silberblatt and Joan Kantor along with live music by Doug White and friends.

Alfred Corn- is the author of more than a dozen collections of poetry, two collections of critical essays, a book of criticism and a novel. He won the Levinson Prize from Poetrymagazine, an Award in Literature from the American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters, and fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Academy of American Poets.

Leslie McGrath- is the author of the collection Opulent Hunger, Opulent Rage(2009), a finalist for the 2010 Connecticut Book Award in poetry, and the chapbook Toward Anguish, which won the 2007 Philbrick Poetry Award. McGrath was awarded the 2004 Pablo Neruda Prize for Poetry and a 2007 Artist Fellowship from the Connecticut Commission on Culture & Tourism.

Faith Vicinanza—Faith is the author of Jupiter Colliding with the Sunand Faith Vicinanza's Greatest Hits, and Husband. Faith was the recipient of the 1993 Connecticut Commission on the Arts Advocate for the Arts Award; and was the Executive Director of the 1997 National Poetry Slam Championships and Connecticut Poetry Festival. She is also the founder of the Wednesday Night Poetry Series, the longest running poetry reading series in Connecticut.

Neil Silberblatt– Neil has been writing poetry since his college days at Cornell, inspired by a former English teacher at Stuyvesant High School (Frank McCourt). A collection of his poems – entitled So Far, So Good– has been published and he has organized (and read at) several local poetry readings and events. He has been a featured poet at the Wednesday Night Poetry Series and was invited to be one of the featured poets at Confluencia, a literary reading sponsored by Naugatuck Valley Community College this past October.

Joan Kantor– Joan Kantor'sfirst collection of poems, Shadow Sounds, was published in 2010 (by Antrim House). Joanwas the first prize winner for poetry in the FRLAC's 2011writing contest . She is also a poet-consultant and judge for the Hill-Stead Museum's annual Sunken Garden Poetry Festival's Fresh Voices competition.
