*Ridgefield Police responded to a one car motor vehicle accident at approximately 3:55am in which 16 year old Jacqueline Brice was killed. Investigation of the accident has determined the following facts: Jacqueline Brice was driving a 2008 Land Rover east on Keeler Drive. As the vehicle rounded a slight curve in the roadway, it crossed over the westbound lane, traveled off the left side of the road and struck a tree. The tree caused extensive damage to the vehicle. Jacqueline Brice was prounounced dead at the scene as a result of the accident.
The accident remains under investigation by Ridgefield Police Department's Uniform and Detective Division along with the department's fatal accident investigation team.
*Ridgefield Police observed the operator of a vehicle traveling north on Danbury Road (Route 35) talking on her cell phone. Investigation revealed that the operator had a suspended licence. The Ridgefield woman was issued a misdemeanor summons for a cell phone violation and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license. A court date is set for August 22.

*Ridgefield Police responded to a call by a Kohl's employee who caught a man stealing Nike sneakers. He was charged with larency and placed under arrest. He was then transported to Ridgefield Police Departmet, processed and released on $100 bond.
*Ridgefield Police were called when someone noticed a dog left in a parked car outside of The Early Bird Cafe. The owner was warned.
*Police responded to Olcott Way at approximately 7:30pm for a report of two men fighting outside. It was determined that one of the men damaged property on the outside of the residence and was asked to leave. He returned a short time later and attempted to kick the door in. He was charged with disorderly conduct and is scheduled to appear in court on August 24.
