Ridgefield Sunrise Cottage - Helping Local Residents with Disabilities Live and Work with Pride & Joy

On Saturday, August 3, hundreds of athletes will gather at Ridgefield's Southwest Cafe for the 7th Annual Southwest Cafe Margarita 5K. Yes, running and drinking some iced cold margaritas is good fun, but truly the best part of this event is the organization it supports.

Ridgefield Sunrise Cottage has been providing life skills, medical support, and transportation for the members of our community who live with disabilities.  With the support and guidance of Sunrise Cottage, residents are able to hold part-time jobs, pay rent, and thus developing a sense of self worth, pride and accomplishment.

"The Cottage is a comfortable setting located in Ridgefield, central to family and friends, and places of employment. Residents feel connected to their community – this is their home – the visible result of heartfelt support from the caring citizens, local businesses, private foundations and public agencies that generously underwrite Cottage operations," explains Sunrise Cottage President, John Loehr.

“Sunrise Cottage is so grateful to Southwest Café for organizing this wonderful summer race. The funds enable us to continue to provide members of our community with essential tools so they can be happy, productive and proud citizens,” remarked Sunrise Cottage board member, Barb Tully.
