John Hiatt and The Combo return to The Ridgefield Playhouse on Friday, August 9, with blues and rock grooves

With fame inspired by 19 albums and eleven Grammy® awards, John Hiatt and his rock touring band The Combo will be in concert at The Ridgefield Playhouse on Friday, August 9, at 8 p.m. Hiatt is a multi-talented singer/songwriter, guitarist and pianist with a passion for blues, rock and country.  His latest album is Mystic Pinball.     John Hiatt is the recipient of many music industry honors including the AMA Lifetime Achievement Award for Songwriting in 2008. Joining Hiatt in concert are Kenny Blevins on drums, Patrick O’Hearn on bass and Doug Lancio on guitars. Special Guest is Matthew Perryman Jones, a pop rock singer/songwriter whose songs have aired on numerous television shows/series episodes.  Tom Tom’s (Main St., Ridgefield) will pour a free glass of wine with dinner the night of this event when tickets are shown. This concert is part of the Guinness Black Lager Rock Series with additional support from the Connecticut Blues Society; media sponsor is WFUV 90.7fm.

John Hiatt found success with his first big hit Bring the Family in 1987.  He received his first Grammy nomination in 1995 for his album Walk On.  Hiatt’s most recent release, The Open Road, features 11 new songs about his life travelling.   Bonnie Raitt has benefited from Hiatt’s songwriting skill with her recording of “Thing Called Love”, which rose to the #11 position on the U.S. charts in 1989.  Hiatt’s songs have been widely performed by established artists in multiple genres including Bob Dylan, Linda Ronstadt, Eric Clapton, B.B. King, Paula Abdul, Buddy Guy, Mandy Moore, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and Jewel.
