Cake Box Now Pink for Cancer

The Cake Box is now selling pink cupcakes in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  A portion of the sales of these cupcakes will be donated to the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer which is taking place in New York City on October 15 and 16, 2011.  The pink cupcakes will be available at The Cake Box until October 31, 2011.

“We know many Ridgefield residents have been affected by breast cancer in one way or another, and we want to do what we can to help, so our thoughts naturally turned to our cupcakes, which bring a little bit of happiness into everyday life,” said Jordan Gregory, co-owner of The Cake Box.

These special pink cupcakes are Very Vanilla-flavored cake with a pink buttercream frosting. They are available in the regular size only.

The Cake Box chose the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer as the recipient of the funds raised for two reasons.  “We know many Ridgefielders participate in this event, and the Avon Foundation awards grants to many types of organizations that support the breast cancer cause, with a special emphasis on support for the medically underserved,” Gregory said.

The Avon Walk for Breast Cancer takes place in nine cities across the U.S. throughout the year.  Participants walk 39 miles in a weekend, raising funds for and awareness of breast cancer.  From 2003 to 2010, the Avon Walks have raised more than $380 million.  Funds raised are managed and distributed by the Avon Foundation, a 501(c)(3) public charity.

The Cake Box is a gourmet cake and cupcake bakery located in Copp’s Hill Marketplace at 109 Danbury Road in Ridgefield.  It is owned and operated by two Ridgefield residents, Jordan Gregory and Robert Byrnes.  All cupcakes and cakes are made on the premises daily using fresh and natural ingredients.
