One Ridgefield resident truly has flower power

Mary Jones has flower power. The Ridgefield resident and local business owner is now the proud owner of two local flower shops. "Why not love all of Ridgefield instead of just part of it," Jones says with a smile.

Jones, who purchased Rodier Flowers just over 5 years ago and moved the upscale, sophisticated shop to Main Street where Rodier has blossomed, has now taken Ridgefield Flowers under her wing.

"Ridgefield Flowers has a different style than Rodier, a bit more country and traditional. They have clients who know and love them so I thought, why not?" explains Jones.

Ridgefield Flowers, located at 17 Danbury Road inside of Girolmetti Court, was owned and operated by Cathy Smith for 25 years. "It was her life's work," Jones says with admiration. Smith left the sweet smells behind knowing Jones was at the helm and retired to Florida to be closer to family. "She was thrilled," says Jones. "My request was that I wanted to keep her staff," she adds.

The shop will continue to operate under the name Ridgefield Flowers. "Ridgefield Flowers has a different style than Rodier," says Jones who refers to it as "simple elegance". We will offer all of the wonderful items that the customers have grown to know and love," she says.

"It's a very classic type of flower shop," says Jones. "Rodier has a more sophisticated design, a more modern look, and a more thorough gift shop," she adds.

Over the next few months, Jones plans on freshening up the shop. "We will celebrate a grand opening once the renovations are complete," says Jones.

Ridgefield Flowers is open from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday and on Saturday from 10 am until 2 pm. They can deliver flowers all over the world.
