What Makes the RSO, and Ridgefield, Special?

Ridgefield is a unique community.  Anyone who lives here, or has even spent any time visiting, knows that our town has a sense of place and a distinctive je ne sais quoi that is all too rare in the 21st Century.

We are extremely fortunate that in 1965 five visionaries decided to form an orchestra in our community.  Over the course of the past five decades the RSO has immeasurably enriched the cultural life of Ridgefield.  What you may not realize is just how unique it is, and how fortunate we are, to have a professional orchestra in our hometown.

According to a recent survey by the League of American Orchestras, no other community nationwide the size of Ridgefield can boast of an orchestra with a comparable budget.  While it is rare for a community of Ridgefield’s size to have an orchestra at all, it is unprecedented to have a world-class, professional orchestra call that community home.

It speaks volumes to both the love of the arts and the generosity of area residents that the RSO has been able to thrive and grow over the past five decades.  And as we embark on our 50th Anniversary Annual Fund Campaign, we ask you to consider all that our orchestra adds to life in our community... and the fact that ticket sales account for only 24% of our income.  We absolutely depend on donations to continue providing exceptional music to our audiences.

The benefits to our hometown of the RSO truly are inestimable.  Please consider a gift to the RSO during our 50th Anniversary Season.  For more information, please visit our website, www.ridgefieldsymphony.org, or call 203-483-3889.
