Congratulations to JoyRide: 1 Year & 65K for local charities

JoyRide Ridgefield Celebrates One Year Anniversary,

Raises over $65,000 for Charitable Causes

January 25th marks one year since JoyRide Ridgefield opened its doors as the town’s first dedicated indoor cycling studio. While the studio is a for-profit business, JoyRide has a unique mission to support the community that goes far beyond just a gym.

In its first year, JoyRide has raised over $65,000 for charitable causes. This includes $12,000 from the Joy of Art Fashion Show for the Aldrich Museum, $12,000 for Todd Ruggere’s CT Pour Tour benefiting Smilow Cancer Hospital, and most recently $22,000 from the enJOY Life fundraiser for the American Brain Tumor Association (honoring Ridgefield mom Andrea Lyons who is currently undergoing treatment for a brain tumor). JoyRide has also held “spinraisers” (fundraisers in which the studio is provided for free and people donate to ride) for many other local charities such as Molly Ann Tango, CHiRP, SPHERE, Lyme Connection and The Ridgefield Playhouse.

“Amy and Corey have built something truly special.  For our Lyme Disease fundraiser they not only let us use the studio but also helped with PR, donations and awareness for our cause. I am a JoyRide fan for life,” said rider and local artist Rachel Volpone.

In addition to fundraising, JoyRide has worked with several local businesses such as Craig’s Jewelers, Lululemon of Danbury, Bring ‘n Buy, and Naked Greens to do “trunk shows” in which another business sets up in the JoyRide lounge and has an opportunity to get their product or service in front of a large group of people in a short amount time as riders leave and enter class.

“We’re passionate about Ridgefield and helping ours and surrounding communities. From the very start we set out to create something that would give back,” said Co-Owner Amy Pal. “We believe all the good we do comes back to us in some way, which is why we’re so active in trying to partner with other local businesses and charities. We’re better when we work together.”

In its first year more than 2,700 people have taken a JoyRide in Ridgefield. The most dedicated riders who have achieved over 100 rides have their photos featured on the “Wall of Joy.” Currently over 60 riders have hit the 100 ride milestone. This wall is special not only as a tribute to the dedication of the riders, it also features a bespoke graffiti mural by Ridgefield artist Michael Cerullo commissioned by JoyRide. JoyRide plans to use other local artists to continue decorating its space in the future.

“Our riders are the driving force of our success and we are so fortunate to have gotten to know the most amazing people,” said Co-Owner Corey Londoner. “We definitely had to take a leap of faith opening the town’s first ever dedicated cycling studio. The idea hadn’t been proven and it was scary. But we are so happy we did it! By far the best thing has been riders telling us how happy they feel and the health and fitness people have achieved through JoyRide. There’s really nothing more gratifying.”

JoyRide’s One Year Anniversary Celebration will be held the weekend of January 24th and 25th. Saturday the 24th is a Rider Appreciation Day featuring playlists by riders who won the recent “dream playlist” competition. Sunday the 25th will feature two back-to-back live DJ Rides at 9:45am and 11:00am. To learn more or register visit: www.joyrideridgefield.com or call 203.403.6874.
