The Ridgefield High School Boys Varsity Tennis team upset perennial powerhouse Greenwich High School in a thrilling 4-3 victory earlier this week. The match was played on a cold and windy day at Greenwich High School, conditions not generally conducive to high level tennis . All of Ridgefield's wins came in singles, with Andrew Mercorella winning 6-3 and 7-5, Patrick Sheehan-Delany winning 6-1 and 6-0, Will Hogan winning in a tough 3 set match 6-4, 3-6 and 6-3 and Owen Isley coming from behind to win a three set match 1-6, 7-5 and 6-3.
Greenwich won the State championship in 2012 and 2013 and Ridgefield has not defeated Greenwich in decades.
