New Exhibition & Art Talk this weekend at the Ridgefield Library

On the Outside Looking in: Outsider/Self Taught Artists from the US and Europe from the collection of Phil Demise Smith
on view from April 11 to May 29, in the Ridgefield Library Gallery on the Lower Level.

Phil Demise Smith, an artist, collector of Outsider Art, poet, writer, musician and teacher, will exhibit some of his Outsider Art collection in the Library's Gallery on the Lower Level. 

Illustrated Talk with Dr. Pam Rogers, Sunday April 12 @ 1 PM
Outsider Art, Neurodiversity and the Culture of Autism
 
This lecture will examine how specialized art studios are changing the landscape of outsider art. It will also explore the concept of neurodiversity, the culture of autism, and the savant-garde which has historically influenced the arts and sciences and includes luminaries such as Andy Warhol and Albert Einstein.
 
Pamala Rogers is the Director of Expressive Art Programs for The Shield
Institute and Pure Vision Arts which is New York's first art studio and gallery for
artists with autism and other developmental challenges. Dr. Rogers has a doctorate in art education from Columbia University's Teachers College and is a graduate of The Institute for Expressive Analysis. In addition to her work at The Shield Institute, Pamala is also a psychoanalyst with a private practice in Manhattan and a visionary artist.
