The Elms Condominiums Maintain the Charm of Old Ridgefield

Editor's note: we received a note from a reader inquiring about The Elms so we dug this out of our archives. It was posted in June of 2015.

Ridgefield’s Elms Inn is presently undergoing the process of becoming a 16 unit condominium complex. The Scala family resolves to “rebuild from the inside out,” to maintain the charm of old Ridgefield, while updating it to fit modern times. (Read about the history of this Ridgefield landmark here.)

The soon to be unveiled housing complex maintains the same look of the historic Elms, adding an historically attractive element to the street-scape. The development allows empty-nesters in Ridgefield to downsize, without moving away from our great community. The location is  provides an easy commute to Main Street favorites, including Ballard Park, The Ridgefield Library, The Prospector Theater, and other shops and restaurants.

The renovation preserves some of the properties beloved historical components. The famous water tower was rebuilt with the same look and combined with the red barn, creating a beautiful naturally lit room. Locals will be happy to know that the cozy bar room fireplace was also kept and incorporated into the floor-plan.

The goal is to make the Elms’ repurposing “a standout project,” to benefit the community. The Scala’s have full faith in the builders and believe they can remodel The Elms while maintaining its historic charm. They are especially impressed with resident builder Mickey Principee’s attention to detail.

The target completion date for The Elms Condominium Complex is the end of 2016. The Scala family hopes it will “come to market in several weeks.”

The new Elms complex promises to be a practical and economically sound residence while remaining a landmark of Ridgefield’s historic Main Street.
