Longtime Ridgefielder Lorraine Evelyn Brainard Neumann has died at 82

Lorraine Evelyn Brainard Neumann, 82, of Ridgefield, beloved wife of Harry H. Neumann, Sr. passed away peacefully on July 27, 2015, surrounded by her husband and family at their home in Ridgefield, CT.

Born to her parents, Otis and Evelyn Brainard, Lorraine spent her childhood in Shelton, Connecticut. After meeting the love of her life they spent their early years together in Milford, Connecticut before moving the family to Ridgefield in 1964. In 1969, Harry and Lorraine started Harry H. Neumann Associates (Neumann Real Estate).

Lorraine is survived by her husband Harry whom together recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary, and their six children, Chip Neumann and wife Pam, Russ Neumann and wife Holly, Jeff Neumann and wife Mary, Janet Neumann, Bob Neumann, Shaylene Neumann Kelley and husband Joe; fifteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a sister Eileen Sweet. Lorraine was pre-deceased by her parents Otis and Evelyn Brainard, brothers Roy and Fred Brainard and dear daughter-in-law and former caretaker, Elizabeth Neumann. 

Lorraine was a special person who touched the heart of many and had a profound impact on every one she met. Her purpose in life was bringing love and joy to others, plain and simple. She dearly loved her family and wonderful friends.

The family is ever so grateful for the many doctors, nurses and aides who have been there over the years for our “Sweet Lorraine”, “Nanny”, “Mom”. You each know who you are and all of you have a special place in all of our hearts. She adored all of you.

In addition to Ridgefield, Harry and Lorraine resided in Marco Island, Florida and Truro, Massachusetts for many years. To the special friends she leaves behind everywhere, we thank you for your kindness, love and friendship. Thanks for being you.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2015 at 11 AM at Jesse Lee Memorial United Methodist Church; 207 Main Street, Ridgefield. There will be no calling hours; interment will be private.
