News to sparkle about for Val Jensen, founder of Ridgefield’s Prospector Theater came last night during the Board of Selectmen meeting when Ridgefield Tax Assessor Al Garzi announced that the educational instruction and programming taking place at The Prospector Theater now qualifies them for 100% tax exemption.
“Because this program was not fully operational in 2013 and 2014, the exemption at that time was not applicable,” explained First Selectman Rudy Marconi.
The agreement between the Town of Ridgefield and The Prospector Theater filed in the court and stipulating Pilot (payment in lieu of taxes) will be amended reflecting Garzi’s determination that the Theater is now fully operational as a 501c3 organization. The Theater will no longer need to make payments to the Town.
The Prospector Theater provides meaningful employment to people with disabilities through the operation of a premium, first-run movie theater located in the heart of historic downtown Ridgefield, Connecticut.
The Prospector Theater is located at 25 Prospect Street in Ridgefield. Visit them online here.
