Philip E. Bergquist
Philip E. Bergquist, 91, of Ridgefield, husband of Kathryn (Hill) Bergquist, died on Saturday afternoon, January 23, 2016 at Bethel Health Care, Bethel.
Born in Danbury, August 23, 1924, a son of the late Gustav and Vena (Anderson) Bergquist, he was raised in Redding, attended Hill School and graduated from Danbury High School with the Class of 1942.
He attended Bay Path College of Longmeadow, MA and graduated from Pace College of New York, NY. A Certified Public Accountant with Seward & Monde, he maintained a practice at their Danbury office.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he served in the European theatre from 1943 to 1945.
An active member of the Grange, Mr. Bergquist was a past president and treasurer of the Redding Grange, past president and treasurer of the Pomona Grange, past treasurer of the Connecticut State Grange, treasurer of the CT Association of Fairs, past president and treasurer of the Kiwanis Club of Danbury, served as a Lt. Governor of the New England District of Kiwanis, past president and current treasurer of the Danbury Chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants, president of the Hull Cemetery Association of Redding, a member and past chairman of the Ridgefield Housing Authority and of Jesse Lee Memorial United Methodist Church of Ridgefield.
Funeral services will take place on Friday, January 29, 2016 at 1 p.m. in the Jesse Lee Memorial United Methodist Church, 207 Main St., Ridgefield with the Rev. Dr. William Pfohl, senior pastor, officiating.
Interment will take place in Hull Cemetery, Redding in the spring.
There will be no calling hours.
