The Fox Family Moves to Dogwood Drive in Ridgefield

Ridgefielder Susie Buckley snapped these two photos of mama and baby fox who have taken up residence outside of her Dogwood Drive home.

According to CT DEEP, the breeding season for the Red Fox, commonly seen in Connecticut,  is from January through March.  After a gestation period of 51 to 53 days, females give birth to a litter averaging 4 or 5 pups.

"These two have been hanging around our house all week," said Buckley.  "The baby fox is very curious and is keeping the mom very busy chasing her around. The baby makes a lot of noise when she walks in the leaves so she's pretty easy to find," observed Buckley.

The DEEP warns that pet owners should keep cats indoors, particularly at night, and small dogs on a leash and under close supervision at all times.

"They [the fox duo] are driving my dogs insane," says Buckley.
