Two RHS students awarded National Merit Scholarships

Two members of Ridgefield High School, Class of 2016, have been awarded $2500 scholarships through the  2016 National Merit Scholarship Program.

Congratulations to Robert G. Castle, who intends to study economics at Dartmouth College and Alexandra E. DiGiacomo, who intends to study marine biology at Duke University!

Robert and Alexandra were two of eight finalists from Ridgefield High School, including William Barth, Jake Acquadro, Hannah Kim, Jack Pieterse, Siqiao Mu, and Alexander Walker.

According to the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, "These Scholars were selected by a committee of college admissions officers and high school counselors, who appraised a substantial amount of information submitted by both the Finalists and their high schools: the academic record, including difficulty level of subjects studied and grades earned; scores from two standardized tests; contributions and leadership in school and community activities; an essay written by the Finalist; and a recommendation written by a high school official."
