The National Charity League (NCL), Nutmeg Chapter, honored four mother-daughter sets at their 2016 Annual Awards Ceremony, hosted at Scott's Ridge Middle School on May 16, by recognizing their philanthropic service to the community. The "Mother-Daughter Award" is given out to those who together performed over 100 hours of service during the fiscal year.
Three daughters are members of the graduating Class of 2016 and have completed their six-year commitment serving dozens of local and national philanthropies through NCL, while two of the daughters will graduate next year. Reflecting on their experience, one daughter said, "We learn valuable leadership skills during our time in NCL that we otherwise would not have be exposed to until we entered the workforce or possibly at college."
The mission of the Nutmeg Chapter is to foster mother-daughter relationships by empowering them to succeed as confident, well-rounded, socially and culturally-aware contributors in their community and beyond. Each of the members pictured here were also recognized for earning other top awards, such as the U.S. President's Volunteer Service Award, Golden Nutmeg Award, Mission Award, and others.
