Ridgefield Shop Sends Donation of Clothing & Accessories to the Philippines

This past fall, The Children’s Cottage in Ridgefield donated a large supply of clothing, shoes, and accessories to Polanco and other nearby villages in the Philippines. Lynne Persan, a Children's Cottage customer, graciously arranged the donation.

The concept was born when Persan befriended Lisa Augeri, a native of the Polanco village when the duo were vacationing on Block Island. Augeri told Persan that her relatives still reside in Polanco where many residents are in need of clothing and supplies. Persan immediately thought of her friend and Ridgefield clothing store owner, Maura Sullivan.

Due to the generosity of Maura Sullivan's consigners, The Children's Cottage is able to accept a large amount of clothing each season. And, because not all of the clothing sells, Sullivan passes it on to those in need. So, when Children's Cottage customer, Lynne Persan let Sullivan know that those in Philippines were in need of clothes, she happily offered to help.

The first shipment of clothing, shoes and accessories was made on November 9. Since the items were not able to be shipped by air, they were transported by sea and took nearly three months to arrive in Polanco!

While this was the first donation made by The Children's Cottage, rest assured, it will not be the last! By land or by sea, Sullivan and her fellow charitable friends Lynne Persan and Lisa Augeri are committed to supporting those in need.

Thank you to Maura Sullivan for all you do for the community, and thank you to Lynne Persan and Lisa Augeri for helping put this donation together!
