Hundreds of community members lined Main Street today to watch the Battle of Ridgefield unfold before their eyes. 240 years ago, on April 27, 1777, history was made when skirmishes between American and British forces took place during the American Revolutionary War. Today, locals were able to witness history through a battle reenactment.
The day began with a commencement speech at Town Hall by Ridgefield's First Selectman, Rudy Marconi before the soldiers proceeded from Casagmo along Main Street to the Keeler Tavern. The battle ensued and raged for several hours, causing pseudo casualties and destruction.
Visit The Keeler Tavern Museum website for more information.
The Battle of Ridgefield 240th Anniversary celebrations are in partnership with Ridgefield Library, Ridgefield Historical Society, and the Masons of Jerusalem Lodge 49.
