Nancy Burke's Culinary Passion is in the Family
Thirty minutes from Ridgefield sits a seaside nautical gem that is more than an award-winning upscale eatery, it’s an experience. Owned by former Ridgefield restaurateur and CIA Certified Event Planner, Nancy Burke, The Boathouse in Westport is an escape from the hustle and bustle of life.
Located atop the World Class Saugatuck Rowing Club, The Boathouse is true to its name, and has recently been renovated into a world class restaurant without losing its mystique as a riverside hut you might see in Nantucket or Block Island.
For Burke, a Ridgefield High School grad, her hometown remains close to her heart. Her mom and stepdad, Jose and Jim Connelly, and brother, Art Michaelsen are Ridgefield residents. What’s more, Art and his wife Julia own and operate Bartolo in Ridgefield. “Art, truly is the finest chef I know!” says Burke.
Burke credits her mom for culinary creativity and quest for delectable cuisine. "I believe I got my passion for food, dining, entertaining and catering from my mom, Josi. Growing up, my mom made delicious dinners and put love into every meal. That's what I try to do, “ says Burke.
You’ll see familiar Ridgefield faces at The Boathouse. Service with a smile comes from sisters Elizabeth and Julia Middlebrook, both seniors at Ridgefield High School (yes, they are twinning). Ridgefield resident, foodie and longtime catering pro Michele Barricelli is also part of the Boathouse team.
Take a deep breath, sit on the deck, enjoy the water views while sipping a glass of chardonnay, and indulge in farm to table fare prepared in house by Executive Chef Paul Scoran and his “crew” of culinary experts. You’re on Boathouse time.
Burke’s mission is for her customers to relish in their dining experience, from the moment they walk in the door. “There’s really nothing better than dining water-side with family or friends while eating an outstanding meal,” says Burke.
In addition to the waterside restaurant, The Boathouse is a a full service, premier catering company and can accommodate up to 200 guests, right onsite.
Hours of operation are Tuesday through Friday, serving lunch from 11:30 a.m. through 3:00 p.m., with dinner service from 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday through Saturday. The Boathouse is closed Sunday and Monday.
