National Association of Divorce Professionals Announces Western Fairfield County Chapter

Changing the Way Families Experience Divorce

There is a new trend in the divorce industry. The professionals who guide families going through the divorce process are consciously focusing on making the impact of the transition less traumatic for the whole family.

The National Association of Divorce Professionals (NADP) is at the forefront of the trend leading the movement to change the way families experience divorce.

As a divorce mediator, Rosemarie Ferrante, the Director of the Western Fairfield County chapter of the NADPbelieves that families going through divorce benefit from making educated decisions throughout the process. “One of the scariest parts about divorce is the unknown. As individuals begin to understand their options, with the guidance of the professionals assisting them, they begin to be less fearful and less anxious.”

"It takes a village to get a couple divorced," says NADP Co-Founder Vicky Townsend. “The NADP brings that village together.” Through monthly meetings, social events and educational events, the professionals from the legal, financial, mental health and real estate industries collaborate in an effort to help families make educated decisions during every stage of the divorce process.

The NADP and its members believethat a smoother transition is possible for those divorcing and that families going through the process should have a softer, gentler landing.

NADP Co-founder and Communication Skills Coach, Liz Becker says, “Children are always the collateral effect of everything in divorce. That’s why we must work together to change the experience of divorce for all involved."

NADP's in-person and online platform brings together all divorce industry professionals who believe in educating and networking with each other in order to better serve their clients.

At monthly meetings, chapter members share their expertise with each other through presentations called “NADP EDTalks.”

For example, an attorney learns from an accountant how recent tax changes may affect their client. Or, a real estate professional learns from a psychologist the affects that staging a home may have on a couple’s young children. The Western Fairfield County chapter’s next meeting is November 16, 2017 at 8:30 am at the Ethan Allen Hotel and will feature an EDTalk by member, Judith Pennington, Senior Vice President, Investments, Wells Fargo Advisors “Money Mistakes in Divorce and How to Avoid Them”.

The Western Fairfield County chapter of the NADP leadership team includes: Director: Rosemarie Ferrante, attorney, divorce mediator, The Divorce Mediation Center of Ridgefield / Danbury, LLC; Assistant Director, Gigi Bazarian, Realtor, William Pitt; Membership Chair, Barbara McMahon, Financial Advisor/ Investments, Merrill Lynch; and Treasurer, Pat McRedmond, Mortgage Banker, Fairfield County Bank.

If you are a professional in the legal, financial, mental health or real estate industry and your business works with clients at any stage of the divorce process, consider joining the NADP.
