BMES celebrates Teacher Appreciation Week

Teacher Appreciation Week (TAW) is in full swing at Barlow Mountain Elementary School (BMES). The teachers and staff do such an amazing job educating our children, we love nothing more than to shower them with appreciation for their hard work and effort throughout the year.

This year’s theme is “We Are Wild About Our BMES Teachers!” We’ve leveraged a jungle thematic that stemmed off our Lion King Production. Our lobby was transformed into a jungle to greet our BMES community. Teachers doors were covered in burlap and bamboo leaves to welcome teachers and students to their classroom. A fun and playful giraffe wearing sunglasses was our icon to support our week’s theme, designed by Daniela Kinsbourne, a BMES Mom.

Our Gala’s theme this year was 06877, which tied into local businesses. We extended this effort by working with downtown companies to bring our thematic to life. The teachers were pampered throughout the week with a variety of treats ranging from; breakfast by Ross’ Bread, lunch from Tigers Den, a beautiful bracelet from Audrey Road, handmade class jungle books for teachers printed by Squash’s, chocolate jungle treats from Honey Bee Candies, and tiki hut supplies provided by Russell’s Carpet.

It’s very important to build the community that surrounds our children. The foundation of our community is our teachers. Showing them our appreciation is just one of the ways that we strengthen our foundation. While the teachers are so appreciative of the weeks activities, the students have been thoroughly enjoying the playful theme too!
