Ridgefield resident Dr. Olga Antoinette Protomastro, 88, has died

Dr. Olga Antoinette Protomastro passed away on Sunday, July 29, 2018, her 88th birthday, while traveling with her family in Ireland.  She was born in Hoboken, NJ and was a long-time resident of Ridgefield, CT and New York City.

Dr. Protomastro was a psychologist who continued to see patients in her private practice in New York City before her passing.  She received her Doctorate in Psychology from the New School for Social Research in New York.  She studied under Dr. John E. Sarno at the Howard Rusk Institute and treated patients with chronic pain conditions through TMS Therapy.

Dr. Protomastro was a loving, devoted wife and mother who received her education while raising her 6 children. Her life revolved around her large extended, close-knit family.  She enjoyed summers at the family home in Charlestown R.I., traveling, and was a fearless, independent woman with a larger-than-life personality and a very kind and generous spirit.  She will be sorely missed by her patients, many friends and family.

Dr. Protomastro was predeceased by her husband, Dominick M. Protomastro, of 66 years. She is survived by her six devoted children and their spouses: Dominique Mavelli and her husband, Jeffrey of Newtown, CT, Michele Vontobel and her husband, Dane of Bethel, CT, Renee Protomastro and her husband, Gary Everett of Shelton, CT, Leslie Protomastro of New York City, Dana Hall and her husband, Glenn of Newtown, CT and Dr. Paul Protomastro and his wife, Nicole of South Salem, NY as well as 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 7 at 10:15 am at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 55 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield, CT with interment to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may call at Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield, CT on Monday, August 6 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.  For further details visit www.jowdykanefuneralhome.com
