Pete Yorn's You & Me Solo Acoustic Tour Hits The Ridgefield Playhouse on October 2

Critically acclaimed singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Pete Yorn returns to The Ridgefield Playhouse stage with an intimate, acoustic set Tuesday, October 2 at 8pm, part of the Doyle Coffin Architecture Singer-Songwriter Series and Pepsi Rock Series powered by Xfinity. Best known for the hits “Life on a Chain,” “Crystal Village,”  and “Strange Condition,” Yorn also scored the Farrelly Brothers’ film Me, Myself and Irene and has collaborated with actress Scarlett Johansson on several recordings, including a well-received EP, Apart, earlier this year. Yorn’s most recent release is a cover of the Pixies’ classic “Here Comes Your Man” featuring background vocals by 1990s indie rock darling Liz Phair. Make it a great night out with dinner and a show! Yorn pays tribute to the Pixies’ timeless anthem while infusing it with his signature sense of soul, driven by upbeat guitars and striking delivery. “It was one of those songs that stopped me in my tracks when I first heard it back in the day,” says Yorn. “It informed my sense of melody in a big way and I always wanted to sing it.”

Earlier this year, Yorn and frequent collaborator Scarlett Johansson released a new EP, Apart. The EP continues to incite applause from fans and critics alike. In an extensive feature, Entertainment Weekly claimed, “The dreamy alt-pop on the new EP demonstrates that the creative kinship between the troubadour and the movie star is much closer than you might expect.” Meanwhile, in an interview with the pair, Forbes noted, “They missed working together. That comes across in the music, which ranges from the fun of the opening track ‘Iguana Bird’ to the more ethereal ‘Movies’.”

Yorn first enjoyed international attention and critical acclaim with the release of his debut album Musicforthemorningafter in 2001 with Rolling Stone magazine naming Yorn “One of the ten artists to watch in 2001” and the album going gold in 2002. His first break came in writing the score for the Farrelly Brothers’ film Me Myself and Irene starring Jim Carrey. The pop-rock number “Strange Condition” off the soundtrack was later released as a single. In addition to Johansson, the New Jersey native has collaborated with R.EM.’s Peter Buck, Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl, The Dixie Chicks’ Martie Maguire and Natalie Maines, and The Pixies’ Frank Black. Yorn is known for playing most of the instruments on his records. This acoustic evening promises to be incredibly special. Don’t miss it!
