Two opportunities in Ridgefield to support Sam Buck and Vanishing White Matter Foundation
On Friday, January 25, the Ridgefield High School Boys Hockey Team will take-on FCIAC rival, Greenwich High School at 4:30 pm at the Winter Garden Ice Arena. But unlike other games, this game will be a fundraiser for Sam Buck and Vanishing White Matter (VWM) Disease, a very rare neurological condition that destroys myelin, the brain’s white matter.
The RHS Boys JV Hockey Team will be hosting a 50/50 raffle and the Winter Garden Ice Arena has graciously offered to donate the proceeds from the door to Sam, a resident of Greenwich, and the VWM Family Foundation.
Read more about Sam's story here.
You can also support Sam and the Vanishing White Matter Family Foundation on February 28 at The Ridgefield Playhouse. Proceeds from Theo Fleury: A Real Conversation will be donated to the Foundation.
The event will feature special guests: former NY Rangers Tom Laidlaw & Colton Orr with an introduction by Jim Axelrod, CBS News Senior National Correspondent.
About Theo Fleury: A Real Conversation
Don’t miss the chance to meet former NHL All-Star, Stanley Cup winner and Olympic Gold Medalist, Theo Fleury, and hear his amazing story. Fleury is perhaps best known for his time on the ice. But off the rink, his life once carried the markings of a troubled childhood, abuse and coping with emotional pain through addictive and self-destructive behaviors. Today, Fleury defines himself as a victor over trauma and addiction and a facilitator to those still trying to find their way.
