From playing music to writing a children’s book, Aakarsh Patel’s passion for helping raise donations for rescue animals has no bounds. A 6th grader at Scotts Ridge Middle School, Aakarsh has officially become a published author, with his first children’s book titled Playing With Puppies. He wrote the book over the summer with the intention of donating 100% of all proceeds to Looking Glass Animal Rescue.
The children’s book is about a little boy playing with puppies, Oscar and Brownie, at his grandmother’s house in India while visiting during summer vacation. Aakarsh says, “I decided to write the book because I believe in Looking Glass Animal Rescue’s mission. I love dogs, plus I wanted to find a way to raise more money for the cause and help rescued animals. By helping animals it makes me miss my grandma's dogs less in India, whose names are Oscar and Brownie, who I love and wish they were here with me.”
The children’s book, Playing With Puppies, is available at Serene Escape Spa, located at 415 Main Street in Ridgefield, CT, for a $5 donation.
