University of Michigan Captures Two Bronze Medals and Finishes Third Overall at NCAA Championships

The University of Michigan Women’s Rowing team earned its spot on the podium at the NCAA Championship on June 2, 2019 with a third-place finish.  Number one ranked University of Washington took first place for the second time in three years and fourth-seeded University of Texas finished second.

UofM’s First Varsity Eight (1V8) boat featured four Connecticut women:  Kathryn Grotto (Weston), Charlotte Powers (Fairfield), Caroline Hendershot (Simsbury) and Grace Collins (Ridgefield).

The 1V8 race was one of the tightest in the NCAA tournament history with three lead changes and the top three boats separated by only 1.2 seconds.

The Wolverine's season ends with its sixth straight top-10 finish. By all measures, the 2019 season ranks with the 2001, 2012, and 2017 seasons as the most accomplished in program history.
