Ridgefield Public Schools announced today the appointment of Rebecca (Becky) Laus as the new Principal of Barlow Mountain Elementary School.
The RPS search committee found Ms. Laus to be “a natural,” “a breath of fresh air,” “brilliant,” and “passionate.” RPS Superintendent Susie Da Silva and Ms. Laus previously worked together in the Darien Public School District, where Laus was Assistant Principal of Hindley Elementary School for over four years, and before that in Westport.
Dr. Da Silva says, “I am thrilled to welcome this talented educator to Ridgefield. Ms. Laus comes to everything that she does with a deep love for students and the work that teachers do with them each day.” She calls Ms. Laus, “a collaborative, organized, visionary leader with a great sense of humor and a willingness to listen. She will be a wonderful addition to the Barlow Mountain Elementary and RPS communities.” In a written recommendation, Cory Gillette, Director of Humanities for Darien Public Schools, echoes Dr. Da Silva’s assessment, “Ms. Laus is the kind of professional educator that any organization would be lucky to have. She is highly engaged, smart, warm, and a great partner for students, teachers, and administrators.” Ms. Gillette says that Ms. Laus is tech-savvy, knows every students’ name, and cites her ability to connect with families as a particular strength.
