Christine Carnicelli and Danille Petrie have owned The West Lane Inn for one year! Congratulations!
A year ago today two Ridgefield moms, Christine Carnicelli and Danille Petrie, jumped all INN! And, in the span of a year, and yes, one that included challenges brought about by a global pandemic, these two go-getters have managed to refresh and enhance a piece of Ridgefield history - making it not only a destination for travelers but a community “hub”.
After months of hard work, the unthinkable happened. Like so many small businesses, The West Lane Inn was forced to shut down. But rather than taking a deserved break, Carnicelli and Petrie got to work. “We used the three months that we were closed to accelerate some of the renovations. In some ways, it worked out, it would have been very difficult to work on the common areas with guests at the Inn,” they say.
The West Lane Inn. located at 22 West Lane in the heart of Ridgefield, has a brand new look and feel. Renovated guest rooms, and newly refurbished common space throughout embrace the building’s roots in history, and preserve the old world charm of the circa 1849 building.
Six of the main Inn’s fourteen well-appointed rooms, some with working fireplaces have been renovated. Carnicelli and Petrie say, “They [the rooms] have new furniture, carpet, and updated bathrooms.” And, a creative twist gives each guest room its unique identity. “Each renovated room has a unique headboard which becomes our foundation for that room's decor and color theme,” they explain.
Upon entering the Inn from the grand front porch (which also has a new look), you immediately feel a sense of calm in the main lobby. Complete with a wood-burning fireplace, the stately room has new hardwood floors, updated light fixtures, and a burst of fresh paint.
If you’re eager to take a peek at The West Lane Inn, Carnicelli and Petrie say that the daily breakfast is now opened to outside guests! While the weather still permits, sit outdoors on the front porch, enjoy some New England leaf-peeping, and bask in the beauty of Ridgefield.
Mompreneurs Carnicelli and Petrie are not two friends who rest on their laurels. “We still have a long list of updates to tackle and will take those on when timing makes sense,” they say.
