In mid-January, Ridgefield resident Karol Mora was driving on Route 7 on the way to the gym, something she did routinely when her life took a drastic turn. This single mom, an employee at Nature's Temptations, was in a head-on collision, that required Mora to be extricated from her vehicle.
Initially taken to Danbury Hospital, Mora was transferred to Yale-New Haven Hospital due to the severity of her injuries which include a brain bleed, punctured lung, ten broken ribs, a broken wrist, and fractures to both ankles as well as her spine and pelvis. According to her family, Mora had to undergo three separate surgeries that required the implantation of surgical hardware as well as having a spinal fusion.
Weeks later, she remains at Gaylord Rehabilitation Center in Wallingford where she is being treated for her injuries. She is expected to be an in-patient for another month.
Her friends and family members are worried about Mora and her daughter and have launched a Go-Fund-Me page to help with the significant expenses that have incurred as a result of the accident.
Her friends say, "For those of you that do not know, Karol is a single mother and sole supporter of herself and her daughter. She has never asked anyone for any type of help and prides herself on being independent and self-supporting. She is an extremely hard worker with a very strong work ethic. She sets high standards for herself and works hard to live up to them. She will put all of her energy into getting better and any help gained from donations will serve to ease her financial worries."
