Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT Adam Broderick Salon & Spa!

Four questions with Adam Broderick, founder of Adam Broderick Salon & Spa.

Why did you start your business?

I grew up in NYC working with top hairstylists and colorists at 2 of the most prestigious salons on 5th Ave & 57th. I relocated to Connecticut to pursue a relationship however found the commute back to NYC too time-consuming. As I looked for a career opportunity closer to home I felt there was a gap.

I knew if I incorporated the critical success factors of the best NY Salons ie; training, technical excellence, great customer service & easy access, and wrapped this new business in a culture of integrity, caring, and giving back, we might have a chance of creating something amazing.

What is your best-selling product/service?

Hair and Spa services in that order... The Nail Bar & AB Boutique are also our favorites. The alchemy of great customer service supporting all of the above makes a visit to Adam Broderick Salon & Spa a beautiful & convenient experience.

How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?

We have a large team of co-workers and I believe most of them shop heavily in Ridgefield, I know I certainly do! Our breakfast, lunch and dinner deliveries (all are local) Ridgefield Supply, Gallo, The Hide Away, Luc's, Ridgefield Organics, Nature's Temptations, Young's, Doyle Coffin Architecture, Fairfield County Bank, Union Savings Bank... it would be easier to name the merchants we don't use often!

We also believe that good works start in the community and back that up by never turning down a local request for auction donations or other support from the salon & spa team. Support of local endeavors such as the Ridgefield Playhouse, ACT of Connecticut, The Prospector Theater, Waterbury Palace, Women's Center of Greater Danbury, ROAR (Ridgefield Operation for Animal Rescue), DAWS (Danbury Animal Welfare Society) to name a few, with annual commitments is part of our business DNA.

Have you "reimagined" your small business?

Always, every day since the first day we opened! My vision and leadership style is anchored in a mindset of continuous improvement. The beauty industry is all about change, identifying current & evolving lifestyles along with relevant trends. Not to be confused with overreacting to pop culture! Lifestyle, culture & personal priorities are always evolving, more now than ever!

I am very involved in my industry and work with a few trend forecasting agencies. Our current reentry and the beginning of post-pandemic life will be filled with new ideas and opportunities that will help redefine beauty, wellness, and daily life for us all.
