Brian F. Hyland ~ Family Man, Coach, Lifelong Jets Fan

Brian F. Hyland, 56 of Ridgefield, husband of JoAnne (Catalina) Hyland died on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at the Danbury Hospital. Brian was born in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, NY, June 7, 1955, a son of the late John and Anne Marie (Kelly) Hyland. He attended St. Francis Preparatory School in New York, and graduated from Fordham University. He enjoyed the beach and spent many summers in Breezy Point, NY with family and friends. Brian was a resident of Ridgefield since 1986 as well an active parishioner of St. Mary Church.

Through the years Brian was involved in many community actitives including coaching many local baseball and basketball teams. Above all else, Brian’s number one priority was his family. He was extremely devoted to his wife, children, and mother-in-law. He was Mr. Fix-It, the problem solver, the Go-To-Person, generous with his time and knowledge to all who needed his help. Brian was a huge sports enthusiast and a lifelong NY Jets fan, never giving up on his beloved team (even after this year’s season!)

In addition to his wife, JoAnne of twenty-eight years, he is survived by a son, Scott J. Hyland of Hickory, NC; a daughter, Jessica B. Hyland of Ridgefield; four brothers, John (Jane) Hyland of Breezy Point, NY, Raymond (Barbara) Hyland of New Rochelle, NY, Thomas (Andrea) Hyland of South Portland, ME and Christopher (Theresa) Hyland of Breezy Point, NY; five sisters, Ellen Higgins of Yardley, PA, Mary Ann (Robert) DiVeglio of Morristown, PA, Regina (Robert) Flanary of Sebastian, FL, Patricia (Michael) Smith and Bernadette Hyland-Baron both of Breezy Point, NY; an aunt, three cousins and many nieces, nephews, great nephews and great nieces.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 10:15 AM in St. Mary Church, 55 Catoonah St., Ridgefield. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Ridgefield. The family will receive friends in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 from 2 PM to 5 PM and 7 PM to 9 PM.
