President of the Wooster School Board of Trustees, Leon Weaver offered kind words to Wooster's soon-to-be graduates. “I bring warm greetings and congratulations, and recognition of all your hard work and success.” Weaver added, “When one is given the opportunity large or small for a leadership role you should seize it. Don't be reluctant, don't be afraid, don't think you won't measure up, or that someone else will do it. Let that person be you. Of course, it won’t always be easy but you won’t regret working with extraordinary individuals.”
Class orator Avery Wadehra ‘21 delivered some heartfelt remarks. “Wooster is not a place that you go in and out of as quickly as you can, not stopping to breathe before running out the door. It’s the sort of place where you stay a few extra minutes to chat with your classmates, even though class is over.”
Before the seniors received their diplomas, Head of School Matt Byrnes spoke to the graduating class. “In this year of all years, when presence itself became dangerous, and we feared to lose much of what held us together each day, much of who we are, I am grateful, Class of 2021, that you were the Seniors with whom we sheltered in this storm. Thank you, Class of 2021, for sitting at the table with us this year, and for all the years before.” Byrnes added, “Your true deep story is yet to be completed. But we now know more. Your plot has thickened. Together we have proven that hard work, and fun, and hope and care for each other, no matter how inconstant or imperfect, are the essence of school and the essence of life. Your greatest gift to us will be to carry these years and all of us with you as you find your way. Make us your foundation but keep building. Know that the person who you are today, the one who you were on your first day, and all of the daily versions in between live here forever. You always have a home here. You always belong here.”
