The Ridgefield Police Union, which represents the officers of the Ridgefield Police Department, have announced their endorsement of Marcie Coffin, John Frey and Patrick Walsh for election to the Ridgefield Police Commission.
Officer Chris Daly, who has been the Police Union President since 2006, had this to say about the endorsement:
“The officers of the Ridgefield Police Department are pleased to endorse Marcie Coffin, John Frey and Patrick Walsh for election to the Ridgefield Police Commission. The officers of the Department have come to know Marcie and her dedication very well during the 10 years she has spent as a Commissioner including three terms as chairman. Likewise, John is a familiar ally from his 22 years as Ridgefield’s state representative working collaboratively on legislation, traffic and storm-related and other crisis matters. Patrick as a local attorney has also been a known supporter for many years. Marcie, John and Patrick understand law enforcement and the challenges facing the Police Department in today’s environment. They have demonstrated strong support for our officers, and we have no doubt they will serve Ridgefield as Commissioners with fairness and good judgment.”
“I have enjoyed working with and in support of the officers during the past 10 years and I am honored to have the endorsement of the Ridgefield Police Union,” added Ms. Coffin, current Chairman of the Police Commission. “I look forward to continuing to support them through my role as Police commissioner.”
“I am profoundly grateful to have the support of the Police Union,” said Mr. Walsh. “Our police officers do a tremendous job keeping our community safe and our police department is second to none. It will be an honor to work with our officers for the continued safety of our community.”
The police union, which is made up of patrol officers, sergeants, lieutenants, and captains, has not regularly endorsed candidates for town boards.
