Ridgebury Elementary School Wins 1st Place at National Invention Convention!

Ridgefield Public Schools just announced that Evelyn (Evie) Klimowicz, a fourth grader at Ridgebury Elementary School, won first place at the National Invention Convention with her invention of The Handy Hound Handle.

2022 marked the 7th annual Invention Convention U.S. Nationals which was held at The Henry Ford in Dearborn, Michigan.

According to the press release, The Handy Hound Handle "allows you to mark your dog's good behavior with a clicker, keeps your dog under control with the leash, and dispenses treats to reward and motivate your dog."

Ridgefield Public Schools explains, "Evie started her path to success by winning the RES competition, then the Connecticut State Convention, and onto Nationals. Although she didn't win the International Invention Convention prize, she held her head high against students from across the world."

The Invention Convention is a hands-on program for young inventors and "introduces students to a world in which they will solve their own problems and gain the confidence and 21st-century skills to invent their own future".
