Carol Jean Haley, 81, of Ridgefield, died peacefully on Saturday, November 12, 2022. She was the loving wife of the late John (Jack) Lawrence Haley who predeceased her in 1990.
Carol was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on March 12, 1941, a daughter of the late George and Jean (Proctor) Purden. She enjoyed a simple childhood in Goshen, Ohio, and went on to attend nursing school and meet her eventual husband Jack, with whom she shares 3 children. Carol and her family lived in many places, and she had the opportunity to travel much of the world due to Jack’s career.
A resident of Ridgefield since 1978, Carol was a retired pediatric nurse, where she practiced at both schools and private practices, touching the lives of many. She was an active member of Ridgefield’s Founders Hall later in her life, where she met great friends and enjoyed many afternoons “gossiping with the ladies”. Carol was an avid reader, enjoyed looking for sea glass on the beaches of LBI and California, and her favorite pastime was simply spending time (and playing cards!) with her sons and grandchildren.
Carol is survived by her sons: Lawrence, Kevin and Brian Haley as well as her grandchildren, Julia, Jonathon and Lani. In addition, Carol is survived by her siblings, Joe Purden and Joanne Ward. She is predeceased by her brother Rick Purden and grandson Michael Haley.
