Why Small Businesses Matter
Shop small, do big things for your community
Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!
You're IT Melodies of Lyra!
Four questions with Julianne Pierandri, founder of Melodies of Lyra.
Why did you start your business?
My interest in “spirituality” was born on a self-discovery journey where I was focusing on bettering my mental health. It was during this time I was drawn to Touch of Sedona which gratefully evolved into a job and then several years later one at Mother Earth Gallery in New Milford. I uncovered a deep passion for crystals, the mystical practices of mindfulness. Though it was the interactions and connections I made while assisting others on their journey that ultimately guided me to create my shop, Melodies of Lyra. Starting my own business has allowed me to bring my creative visions to life and utilize my love of photography, for which I have a degree.
What is your best-selling product/service?
The signature product of my shop is my “Melody Bowls”. These are hand-constructed crystal sculptures placed in repurposed vessels that become one-of-a-kind sand gardens. Each bowl has its curated intentions but all radiate positive energy, inspire creativity and create a beautiful visual for a beloved space. Over my years of meditation and spiritual practice, I have emphasized creating a sacred space in my home. The space around you holds energy and one of the main goals of my business is to help my customers create a space that allows them to connect, reflect and practice what they are called to with love and positivity.
How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?
Have you "reimagined" your small business?
My business has been in the works for many years, but I only just launched it in January of 2022. I’ve still been refining where I would like to take it in terms of my creativity and services but I’m also letting it all flow organically for now. My boyfriend is a talented glassblower, and our goal has been to combine our designs. I’m excited about bringing our ideas to fruition and hope to eventually have a gallery space to share our artwork.
Julianne would like to nominate Elena Snezhkina the owner of Botanika Cafe to be featured next!
