There might be snow on the ground, but the Ridgefield Little League is getting ready for spring baseball. Registration is open for every division.
Registration links are available on the website www.ridgefieldlittleleague.org.
The season begins with evaluations to ensure balanced teams. Evaluations are scheduled for Majors, AAA, and AA Divisions. These evaluations are take place in March.
Single A, Rookie, Tee Ball and Pee Wee Divisions are available for children age 4-8 and require no previous experience. We will do our best to coordinate our schedules with SCOR or other sports.
Basic fundamentals are taught with an emphasis on instruction over competition.
Opening Day is April 22 and the entire community is welcome. It takes place at Governor’s Park and celebrates the kick off to the season.
This year, it will feature skills competitions for older players, the traditional parade for the younger players, music and festivities.
Additional events like the Home Run Derby, Slugfest, and the Championship games are featured throughout the season.
The Pancake Breakfast in June is the biggest fundraiser and also the most fun of the season! We are always looking for volunteers, silent auction donations, and sponsors. This is a great way to get involved in the baseball community.
Ridgefield Little League Baseball
Founded in 1954, Ridgefield Little League is Ridgefield’s oldest youth sports organization. RLL has grown tremendously over the last 60+ years, starting with 6 teams to now serving over 500 boys and girls on over 80 teams from T-ball to Majors and the Holland Division. Through proper guidance and exemplary leadership, RLL’s mission has been to assist youth in developing the qualities of citizenship, discipline, teamwork and physical well-being. The Little League program is designed to develop superior citizens rather than stellar athletes. This mission is instilled under the leadership of over 300 volunteers who help administer the program annually; from the Board of Directors and coaches to those who run the annual pancake breakfast. The league is 100% self-sufficient. RLL relies upon strong, long-term relationships with our community and local sponsors. In 2016, Community Center, Lion’s Club, Rotary Club, Squash’s and Pamby Motors all marked 30+ years as RLL sponsors.
