When Ridgefield resident and photog Diane Daskam spotted the bleak brilliance of this stormy sky while working in downtown Ridgefield, she quickly walked outside to capture its essence. The pink flowers are a stark contrast to the gloomy sky; the historic town landmark radiates a unique glow.
Diane says it was "the calm before the storm". She was able to make it back to work before the sky opened up! Thank you, Diane, for letting us share your incredible photographic moment!
** Did you know? Under the current leadership of Executive Director Suzanne Brennan, Lounsbury House, a National Historic Site, was built in 1896 by former Connecticut Governor Phineas C. Lounsbury. While attending the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair, Governor Lounsbury was so taken by the Connecticut State Building that he built a replica to serve as his family home.
Through the efforts of Lounsbury House Women’s Committee, volunteers, and the Board of Directors all the original details have been preserved, from the exquisite moldings to the massive doors and sweeping staircase.
Lounsbury House Board of Directors charters the overall operations of the facility and grounds. A Women’s Committee was formed to provide interior designing and purchase of fixtures and furniture as well as the core volunteer organization for the ongoing events.
