Why Small Businesses Matter
Shop small, do big things for your community
Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

Three questions with Rebecca Staub, founder of Rebecca Staub Staging & Design.
Why did you start your business?
I've had an interest in design since I finished business school in Boston and purchased my first home. I was fortunate enough to be able to design my second home from scratch and loved every detail right down to picking the moldings and hinges. Friends and family often ask me to help them decorate their homes.
One friend offered to pay me for my time to help her design a room in her home which made me think I could do this as a profession. The transition to being self-employed was seamless because helping others is my favorite part of providing a service.
What is your best-selling product/service?
I find that people get the most out of a flat fee kitchen or bathroom design, where I'm able to pick all the finishes, coordinate with the vendors on the lead time, and order everything for the client's delivery. Everything the client needs is available before the contractor starts the demo work which keeps the projects on time and on budget.
How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?
In every renovation project, there are a multitude of vendors needed and I always try to shop small and shop locally. Creative Tile on Route 7 for Tile, Torcco in Danbury for Plumbing Supplies, Glass Guys, and La Pietra for countertops.
Rebecca would like to nominate Gabor Hagen of Hagen Remodeling to be featured next!
