Three questions with Seth Augustus Quittner, founder of Seth Quittner Design.
SQD is a Ridgefield-based design and development shop with over ten years’ focus on WordPress and extensive experience conceiving and producing web projects that have helped businesses to gain web presence and increase revenues.
Why did you start your business?
I graduated from the MIT Media Lab where I learned to explore the interconnectedness of creativity & technology, and I wanted to do something that engaged both of those aspects of myself. I started my business during the initial dot-com days while living in San Francisco, and there was a lot of excitement and opportunity in this field.
What is your best-selling product/service?
My best-selling product is bespoke WordPress sites. My most valuable service, however, is my ability to bridge the gap between the tech world and my clients' needs. I have a diverse set of tools and years of experience that I bring to every project. Valuable insights have been gained through working with a broad range of clients including small e-commerce businesses, enterprise software companies & startups, non-profits, writers/artists/filmmakers, and sustainable/regenerative agricultural organizations.
I started as a designer, but soon, out of necessity, learned to code so that I could better merge the technical and the creative. One of the benefits of knowing how to do both is that it's consequently turned me into a project manager. I especially enjoy facilitating communication across teams. My business has also evolved to include video editing, sound design, and voice-over work as projects require.
