What's happening with the tennis courts behing Yanity Gym?

The Justine Butler Tennis Courts (aka “the old high school tennis courts”) are currently receiving a much-needed overhaul.

Ridgefield Parks & Recreation Director Dennis DiPinto says Woodbury-based Classic Turf Company has been hired to replace the six-decade-old courts which he deems are in “deplorable” condition. “We are replacing old asphalt courts that have served us well for 65 years with post-tension concrete - the latest and greatest,” he says.

The goal is to have the surface of three tennis courts one basketball and three to five pickleball courts completed by the end of October. Finishing touches, including lighting and fencing will be installed during the early part of winter.

“We hope to be up and running at the very latest for spring tennis season in mid-March 2024,” says DiPinto.

While the courts are being renovated and once school is out for summer,  the public can use the courts at Ridgefield High School. For information about the RHS courts, click here.
