Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT Brasserie Saint Germain!

Four questions with the founder of Brasserie Saint Germain.

Why did you start your business?

We started our business Sucre Sale in 2014. We closed it in February 2023 and reopened a new one in a bigger space at the end of April 2023.

What is your best-selling product/service?

Because we are the only raw fish bar in Ridgefield, we sell a lot of oysters. Besides that, Escargot, Onion Soups, Salmon in Champagne sauce, and Steak Frites!

How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?

We get our seafood from Paganos from Norwalk, our Wine from fine terroir selections from Norwalk, and Falvey Linen Supply from Milford!

Have you "reimagined" your small business?

We moved to a bigger space to offer a seafood raw bar and a more eclectic menu that cater to a wider range of the local population.
