Music at the Mansion is an exciting art and cultural collaboration between Lounsbury House and the Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra, with the intent of offering chamber music of the highest artistic quality accessibly while sharing the history and beauty of one of Ridgefield’s most treasured landmarks.
Join us on Sunday afternoon July 16th for “Rachel & Keve” featuring Rachel Handman, violin, and Keve Wilson, oboe, joined by friends Hidayat Honari, guitar, Marc Schmied, bass and Mike Ramsey, drums.
Friends since the age of 10, Rachel Handman, violin (assistant RSO concertmaster) (Funny Girl, The Music Man on Broadway) and Keve Wilson, oboe (RSO principal oboe) (Company, Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder on Broadway) dazzle audiences with their electric dynamic that instantly ignites the room. This violin and oboe duo pushes the boundaries of musical genre — fusing classical virtuosity with the spontaneity of a bluegrass band. This duo takes what traditional classical instruments can do to the next level, not to mention weaving hilarious tales of their lifelong friendship between numbers.
On Sunday, July 30th, the concert series features extraordinary artists Anna Petrova, piano and Jeremías Sergiani-Velázquez, violin from the Charles Ives Music Festival. Praised for her “technical brilliance and complete emotional engagement” (Fanfare Magazine), Bulgarian concert pianist Anna Petrova performs extensively around the globe as both soloist and chamber musician. She has been the recipient of top honors and awards at numerous competitions internationally, including the Queen Elizabeth and Jose Roca Competitions. Violinist Jeremías Sergiani-Velázquez has performed classical, contemporary, and tango music around the world. As soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral performer, he has been heard in 16 countries across four continents. In 2021, Jeremias was appointed Principal Second Violin of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra.
We wrap-up the summer concerts on Sunday, August 20th with Harmonia V Woodwind Quintet featuring Janet Rosen, oboe, Robert Hoyle, horn, Jennifer Berman, flute, Jim Forgey, clarinet and Jackie Joyner, bassoon. Harmonia V is an innovative woodwind quintet dedicated to performing the best standard literature, seldom heard treasures, and the most dynamic contemporary music available today. Audiences of all ages will enjoy Harmonia V’s refreshing approach to virtuosity and nuance, exposing them to a new world of sound, color and emotion. Harmonia V will perform a dynamic concert of movie music – a mix of actual film scores and classical music that has been featured in movies. Think John Williams (Harry Potter and Schindler’s List), a Sound of Music medley, Salute to MGM, Theme from The Incredibles, the Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Moon River, The Entertainer and more!
Doors open at 4:00 PM for each concert with wine and cheese on the Lounsbury House veranda. The July 16th and August 20th concerts will also feature a tasting by Barrelsmith premixed cocktails. Music starts at 4:45 PM indoors in the Lounsbury ball room.
