Ridgefield Historical Society seeks membership chair as organization gears up for new initiatives and growth

Interested in helping one of Ridgefield’s vital organizations grow? The Ridgefield Historical Society is recruiting a new membership chair to join the board of directors and help us reach new residents and audiences so we can all enjoy and treasure the history of our town.

Our board is a hands-on, working board; our new membership chair will be a welcome addition. For information and to discuss whether this volunteer position would be a good fit, please email Tracy Seem, president@ridgefieldhistoricalsociety.org

Those who are already members know about the many ways that the Historical Society gathers, preserves and shares information. Our staff, volunteers and board members provide hours of research, organizing, outreach, and support, whether it’s helping coordinate Battle of RIdgefield commemorations, hosting young students at the Peter Parley Schoolhouse for a taste of one-room schooling, or gathering the Ridgefield History Club for conversations about bygone days to create a record of the town’s recent past.

We have genealogists who help untangle knotty family records and we have people who work with donations of documents and photos, making sure that proper preservation techniques are observed and that the information we have can be accessed by researchers. Our website, supported by our members, offers a wealth of local history.
