Why Small Businesses Matter
Shop small, do big things for your community
Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!
You're IT Cloudy Lane Bakery!
Three questions with Danielle LeBlanc, owner of Cloudy Lane Bakery.
Why did you start your business?
I started Cloudy Lane Bakery in 2018 - I grew up as a competitive athlete, as well as a musician, and I love using my creativity to make delicious foods that are also nutritious and beneficial to our health and well-being. After sharing some of my creations with friends and family, I realized how many people were sacrificing flavor for dietary needs or allergies; there was a huge void of compromise-free healthy, delicious treats. I always believed that there is no reason to sacrifice taste, and there is always a way to make something nutritious while also bursting with flavor!
How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?
Every month we have different seasonal specials. We support local businesses by purchasing featured fruits and veggies for our seasonal specials. This past month we have been using Strawberries from Fort Hill Farm and rhubarb and honey from Ox Hollow to make our Strawberry Rhubarb Muffins and Strawberries n “Cream” Donuts. We also preserved carrots from last season from Riverbank Farm to make our loaded Carrot Cake Loaves.
