Ridgefield Weather Alert: Eversource Monitoring Risk for High Heat and Potential Severe Weather

Eversource is currently monitoring the potential for an impactful weather event on Thursday, July 27, 2023, with strong to severe thunderstorms expected from 12pm-9pm bringing potentially damaging wind gusts across the service territory that could impact service delivery

We also continue to monitor the risk of high heat and demand on our system. Crews are ready to respond to any issues that could arise during periods of extreme heat and severe weather.

NWS forecast

A disturbance moving through the region will support scattered thunderstorms during this afternoon and evening. Conditions will be favorable for instances of damaging winds, frequent lightning, and hail in the strongest activity. Isolated tornadoes will be possible from around NC into southwestern Maine. The risk for severe weather will diminish in the evening hours as instability decreases and the disturbance exits the area.

At this time, please continue to communicate your questions and concerns to your dedicated Community Relations Specialist, cc'd on this email.

As the forecast continues to develop, we will be updating you on any changes and Eversource's response plans.

Eversource understands preparing and responding to a storm can be stressful for everyone. To mitigate this stress, all municipal officials and regional dispatch centers are encouraged to use Eversource's Municipal Hub. The Municipal Hub will seamlessly advance storm response and streamline public safety communications throughout the duration of the storm.
Remember, FPS1 tickets are imminent danger and cannot be reported through the Municipal Hub.

Thank you for your continued cooperation, and please stay safe.
